How Can balance Disorder Along With Restless Leg Syndrome Be Treated?

I have been experiencing in balance lately. I have fallen several times. I am ready to go to bed at 7 pm every night and sleep till late morning. I have restless legs when I try and relax in the evening. I feel very unstable. I have been worked up for MS and they can not find a reason for my symptoms.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

First of all, it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, you need to work up for cerebellar lesions as well as tests for BPPV and both neurologist and ENT specialist reviews.

Sleep meds may increase balance issues so should be used after consulting a proper neurologist. Though benzodiazapine group can be used with caution.

Betahistine may also be needed for balance issues. Supplements for calcium D3 B12 and folic acid may also be helpful.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
